Pricing - Automatically Convert Inches to Feet

QwikQuote allows you to create flexible pricing in the form of user-defined templates. The following screen shots illustrate a template that measures glass pricing by the linear foot. The user enters the glass size in inches. QwikQuote automatically converts it to feet. Finally, costs are automatically calculated in feet.

PART A - - How it Works

A1. The glass size is posted in column-X and column-Y. In this example, the glass size is measured in inches; the 2-inch by 3-inch glass size is manually entered.

A2. After the glass size is entered, QwikQuote automatically converts it into feet. In this example, 2 inches times 3 inches (which equals 6 inches) automatically converts into .5 feet.

A3. The price per foot can be manually entered or automatically posted from the price list. QwikQuote will automatically calculate the total by multiplying .5 feet times the price.

PART B - How to set up the template in Qwikquote

B4. In the Options View, select the tab titled “quote order”. Then select the field order (columns) as follows. Note that the internal name of “Unit K” in column 8 will be called “Conversion Factor” when the quote view is finished being set up.

B5 - In the Advanced Tab, select the “Enable Setting Up Options Type”.

B6A - In the Quote View, the headings will not be correct. For example, QwikQuote stores the Conversion Factor internally as “Unit K”, but the heading should read “Conversion Factor” for user clarity:

B6B - To change the header name, (1) move your cursor in the “Unit K” header area and double-click. A text box (2) will pop up where you can change the name of the header to “Conversion Factor”:

B6C - The conversion factor to convert inches to feet is .0833333333 (12 divided by 1). You will notice that there are not enough default decimal places in the conversion factor column of QwikQuote to provide an accurate conversion result:

B6D - To correct the decimal size, hold the cursor in the white part of the conversion column and right-click. A pop up box will appear. Choose “number” and hit :enter”.

B6E - When the Format Cells box appears, you can manually type in the format 0.00000000. Then “enter”.

B6F - In the Quote View, the headings will now appear as follows when the headings are properly names and formatted:

Part C - Setting Up Automated Pricing

Each part number can hold it’s own pricing, sizing, and conversion information. When the part number is entered in the quote view, the quote will automatically populate all the information.

C1- Select the Catalog view. Choose the parts list item that you wish to price. Then select the “Pricing” tab. This is where you can enter Size X, Size Y, and the conversion factor (Size K). If you wish, you can also select Size Z and set it up QwikQuote to cost the thickness. This can be done by starting with step one in this tutorial and adjusting the process accordingly. You are also welcome to contact QwikQuote support if you have any questions on this.
