Terminal Server – Running the QwikQuote Update Program

  1. The QwikQuote update program is not a full install file. You can only update a working version of QwikQuote. Do not run the update program unless you have QwikQuote installed and working.
  2. If you are running the 6.3.008 update on a terminal server, it must run MSI during installation. The file needed is msiexec.exe and it is located in the c:\windows\system32 directory. The terminal server might not be able to see this file.  Before you try to troubleshoot the reason, it is important that you initiate the setup program through ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.  If you still have the problem, then check the following:
    1. Give the user rights to access the C:\Windows\System32 directory while running the update.
    2. Copy the msiexec.exe to the c:\windows\system32 directory so that the update program can find it.
  3. You will need a current 40-character serial number below to run the update. You can enter it in the Setup Wizard. If you try to run the update and it refuses to run without a current serial number, you must go into the SETUP WIZARD and enter a current one.
  4. After you run the 6.3.008 update, unzip the 6.3.008 Terminal Server .exe file into the main program directory of QwikQuote.
  5. Go into the QwikQuote Setup Wizard and run “config”.
  6. After you install the update, run “config” in the SETUP WIZARD (see instructions).
  7. QwikQuote should now operate properly as a Terminal Server. Test it on different terminals to see if it operates properly as a terminal server.
